• New mural in Carl Junction celebrates America's birthday (fourstateshomepage.com) — Carl Junction residents are being invited to help create a patriotic tile mural that will go up on the west wall of the Community Center by Independence Day. Community members are painting individual tiles that will form a larger image of the American flag and an eagle, as the city marks the nation’s 250th birthday with a locally made artwork. 
• PSU hires Tim Pierce as facilities director (morningsun.net) — Pittsburg State University has hired Tim Pierce as its assistant athletics director of facilities, bringing back a longtime Gorilla staffer who now lives in Carl Junction with his family. While the job is in Pittsburg, his Carl Junction residence adds a local connection for residents following regional higher education and sports news.
