• Explosion and Hazmat clean up at Schreiber in Carthage (koamnewsnow.com) — An explosion involving chemicals at the Schreiber facility on West Fairview Road shook part of the building Thursday morning, but no injuries or fire were reported, according to Carthage Fire officials. Fire crews activated special teams, sounded a second alarm to help cover the city, and later returned on standby while Schreiber’s own teams handled hazmat cleanup and an internal investigation.
   

• Carthage R-9 hires high school social studies teacher, accepts ag teacher's resignation (blogspot.com) — Carthage R-9’s Board of Education has hired Cooper Rooks as a new social studies teacher at Carthage High School while accepting several staff resignations, including an agriculture teacher at the Technical Center. Meeting in special session June 8, the board also reviewed a KE Baker remodel update and discussed the proposed 2026–2027 budget in closed session.
