• As state intervention looms, task force leader says St. Louis County schools need regional overhaul (stlpr.org) — Hazelwood schools are part of a regional task force studying major changes to north St. Louis County districts as enrollment drops, funding shrinks, and state accreditation decisions loom. Leaders are weighing options from keeping districts separate to merging or reassigning students, while Hazelwood has already shifted its tax levy to stabilize finances. Public meetings on proposals are expected in October before any statewide ballot measure. 
• Body found near Highway 67 leads to charges against Hazelwood man (kttn.com) — A Hazelwood man has been charged in the Sept. 5 death of a Fairdealing woman whose body was found along Highway 67 in St. Francois County, and he remains jailed without bond. State investigators say evidence places him near where the body was discovered, though the charges are still only accusations. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
