New Kearney firefighter approved by city council (centralnebraskatoday.com) — Kearney’s city council has officially approved Kyle Robinson as the newest member of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, following his March 5 start. The article also explains how KVFD, city fire staff, and the Suburban Fire Protection District work together to protect Kearney, Buffalo County, and surrounding areas.

Kearney downtown festoon lighting project approved (ksnblocal4.com) — Downtown Kearney’s Central Avenue is getting new overhanging festoon lights and four-way stop intersections from 21st to 24th streets after city council approval this week. Senior Rylan Basart has broken his uncle’s long-standing school record, earned multiple All-American honors, and is pushing for another nationals appearance as he finishes his Loper career.
5. Student Research Day highlights hands-on learning at UNK (unk.edu) — Students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney recently filled campus with hands-on research projects during UNK’s annual Student Research and Creative Activity Day. From chronic wasting disease studies to a history thesis on Kearney State College, the event highlighted how Lopers gain real-world experience and mentoring that can lead directly to careers and deeper community connections.
