• Overton couple faces new charges for owning livestock despite court-ordered ban (nebraska.tv) — An Overton couple previously convicted after dozens of dead and malnourished animals were found on their farm now faces new Dawson County charges for allegedly owning livestock despite a court-ordered ban. Deputies say they discovered animals at the couple’s Overton residence in March, and both are scheduled for another Dawson County Court appearance on April 28.

• Grass Fire Rekindled Southeast of Sumner (ruralradio.com) — Overton residents should know that Overton High School is open as an emergency shelter for people displaced by a fast-moving grass fire southeast of Sumner. Multiple area departments, including Overton firefighters, are battling the blaze and monitoring hotspots after about 75 acres burned, while Dawson County officials urge Sumner residents to evacuate toward Eddyville.
