Police believe the gathering was at a short-term rental and are still searching for the suspect, while longtime residents describe growing worries about large teen parties and hope such violence does not return to their normally quiet community.

Deadly house party shooting raises concerns about youth violence in Las Vegas (news3lv.com) — Metro Police are investigating a deadly shooting of a teenager at a southwest Las Vegas house party early Sunday, and the suspect or suspects remain at large. A local youth advocate says violence among teens is worsening, citing easy access to weapons and social media, and is urging more community involvement and youth programs across the Las Vegas Valley to prevent future tragedies.
   

3. Southern Nevada renews calls to fund Dolly Parton book program after grant ends (news3lv.com) — Families across the Las Vegas Valley are pushing to restore funding for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library after a key state grant lapsed and local book deliveries were paused. One Las Vegas father credits the free children's books with helping his toddler learn to share and express emotions, and local group Storied says the program has already served more than 25,000 valley kids.
