Union laborers picketed the non-union demolition, and county officials confirmed the dramatic teardown was fully permitted, caused no injuries, and followed approved procedures.

Domestic violence homicides rising statewide, experts say after deadly Las Vegas shooting (ktnv.com) — A double murder-suicide inside an east Las Vegas home has domestic violence advocates warning that homicides are rising across Nevada this year. Police say a man fatally shot his parents, then himself, after calling 911 from the East Rochelle Avenue residence. Experts at a Las Vegas conference stress that firearm access is making already dangerous home situations more likely to turn deadly.
   

3. Las Vegas City Council tightens street performer lottery rules amid reports of abuse (fox5vegas.com) — Las Vegas City Council has tightened the lottery rules that assign street performance circles on the Fremont Street Experience, aiming to stop people from hoarding or selling spots. New rules shorten wait times, clarify that selling or reserving circles is illegal, and increase penalties for violations, changes that local buskers hope will make their nightly workplace safer and fairer.
   

4. How the Fed rate hike will impact Nevada housing (8newsnow.com) — A new Federal Reserve rate hike is nudging mortgage costs higher, but a Las Vegas broker says the change adds roughly $50 a month on a typical $500,000 home.
