Worker Dies After Construction Accident Involving A Paving Roller: Update
Bedford police, firefighters, and OSHA responded to Maiden Lane after a report that a paving roller ran over a worker Monday morning.
BEDFORD, NH — A routine paving job turned catastrophic Monday morning when an industrial worker was run over by a heavy paving roller in the driveway of a residential home on Maiden Lane in Bedford and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Emergency crews from the Bedford police and fire departments rushed to the scene after urgent calls reported the incident just before 11 a.m. Initial emergency radio broadcasts indicated that first responders immediately prepared to administer CPR after successfully extricating the victim from beneath the heavy machinery.
Radio dispatch traffic described the worker's injuries as severe and life-threatening.

He was 67.
Daniel Douidi, the chief of police in Bedford, said in a statement that the worker's name and the construction company's name were not being released at this time.

Inspectors from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Accompanied by Bedford police officers, OSHA investigators were seen meticulously taking photographs and recording measurements across the driveway.
Several commercial trucks belonging to a Litchfield-based paving company remained parked near the property while federal investigators interviewed shocked crew members.
