Fire Damages Temple Street Building, Displacing Nashua Residents

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue responded late Wednesday to a building fire at 48 Temple St. that was confined to one first-floor apartment but left the entire building with smoke damage, according to an incident summary by Deputy Chief Kevin F. Kerrigan.

The department’s Dispatch Center received a report of smoke in the building at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Engine 4 from the Crown Hill station was the first unit on scene and reported visible smoke coming from the building. Firefighters then stretched two hose lines to knock down the fire.

Crews also conducted what the incident summary described as a thorough search of the building to confirm no occupants were inside. The fire was brought under control rapidly, preventing further damage to the structure, according to the report. No injuries were reported.

The fire response included four Nashua Fire Rescue engines, two ladder trucks and other apparatus that included two fire investigators or marshals and a deputy chief. A total of 28 Nashua Fire Rescue personnel responded, along with AMR unit ALS 10, according to the incident summary.

There was no mutual aid sent to the scene, though Tyngsborough provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Red Cross responded to assist residents displaced by the fire.

Nashua Fire Rescue also included a public safety reminder in the incident summary: “When smoke detectors sound, exiting the building as soon as possible will provide you with the best opportunity for survival.”
