Goodlander Says Trump, Not China, 'Greatest Threat To America'; Tang Williams Stunned By Rep's Answer
What's the greatest threat to America — China? Russia? Islamist terror? Out-of-control AI? Nope, Trump is, according to Maggie Goodlander.

What’s the greatest threat to America — China? Russia? Islamist terror? Out-of-control AI?
No, says first-term congresswoman Maggie Goodlander. It’s President Donald Trump.

In an interview with the Keene Sentinel posted Tuesday, Goodlander is asked, “Is China the biggest threat to our country?”
“I think the biggest threat to the United States of America is President Donald Trump,” Goodlander answered.

The NH-02 Democrat claimed her view is “held by Republicans and by Democrats. Vice President Dick Cheney said he was the greatest threat to our republic in history, and I agree with that.”
It’s an answer that shocked Goodlander’s GOP opponent, Lily Tang Williams, whose family fled Communist China for the U.S.
“I grew up under the CCP in China. I know exactly what a real threat to freedom looks like,” Williams told NHJournal. “The actual economic and military superpower threat is China. Ignoring that is dangerous and flat-out wrong for New Hampshire.
“Declaring Donald Trump the biggest threat to America is pure tunnel vision. The CCP wants to bring down the United States and is already infiltrating through open borders, soft power, and politicians who sympathize with its Marxist goals.”
NHGOP Chair Scott Maltzie called Goodlander’s answer “either a fundamental misunderstanding of the threat China poses to the United States or a partisan obsession with the president that overrides her judgment. Either way, it is disqualifying. New Hampshire deserves a representative who can put our national security ahead of partisan politics.”
By naming Trump as the greatest danger facing America — particularly in response to a question about China — Goodlander is putting the twice-elected commander in chief ahead of a nuclear-armed Russia that has invaded its neighbors and interferes in U.S. elections, the Islamist terror sponsor Iran, which is responsible for thousands of American deaths, and the looming threat of artificial intelligence, among other threats.
This is particularly interesting given Goodlander’s marriage to Jake Sullivan, who served as President Joe Biden’s national security adviser. Sullivan urged outreach to Iran and “repeatedly raised and discussed options for withholding weapons” from Israel even as the Jewish state was under attack from Hamas and Iran’s other terrorist proxies.
Goodlander’s loathing of President Trump is hardly a secret. During her 2024 campaign, she said, “He poses the greatest threat to our country than any other human perhaps in American history.” A year later, she participated in a Democratic political video encouraging active-duty service members to question orders issued by President Trump as potentially illegal.
“Maggie Goodlander encouraged military service members to refuse orders, voted to defund the Department of Homeland Security, and wants to reopen our borders to terrorists and criminals,” said RNC spokesperson Kristen Cianci. “Goodlander is deflecting from her own dangerous record and putting her Trump Derangement Syndrome on full display.”
