Local Event: Thoreau's WALDEN, Oct 2 - 4 at Portsmouth NH's Pontine Theatre (patch.com) — Portsmouth theatergoers can catch a three-day run of Thoreau's "Walden" at Pontine Theatre's historic Plains Schoolhouse from October 2–4, with 2 p.m. performances each day. Tickets are available online, with on-site free parking, giving locals an easy way to enjoy a reflective, award-winning interpretation of Thoreau's search for meaning in nature.
   

3. Jewelry theft investigated in Portsmouth (newportdispatch.com) — Portsmouth police are investigating a jewelry theft at Kay's Jewelry on Woodbury Avenue, where a man allegedly ran off with diamond rings and necklaces. Investigators are coordinating with other agencies and asking anyone who saw the suspect, his vehicle, or similar behavior in nearby stores to contact Detective Charley Raizes or submit an anonymous tip to Seacoast Crime Stoppers.

5. $56M Verdict in Amazon Delivery Crash Damages Trial (expertinstitute.com) — A Newburyport man has been awarded a $56 million verdict after a catastrophic 2024 head-on collision with an Amazon-branded delivery vehicle on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth. The Middlesex County jury focused solely on damages after Amazon and its delivery partner accepted liability, with the record-setting award reflecting lifelong medical and care needs from the Portsmouth crash.
