Freeze Warnings Issued Across NJ As Record Cold Moves In
The balmy, summerlike weather NJ experienced last week has suddenly been replaced with a return to winter.
After a warm, summery stretch, a cold snap is threatening to freeze spring crops and bring winter back to the Garden State, according to the latest forecast.
Temperatures Monday will reach the mid-40s to the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service.
Isolated showers are possible, with snow in higher terrain and possible hail, forecasters said.

Things will be frosty Monday night, with lows in New Jersey ranging from 10 to 20 degrees lower than the historical average, AccuWeather forecasters said.
A Freeze Warning across the state will be in effect from midnight Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Crops and sensitive vegetation could be at risk, forecasters warn.
“Frost and freeze conditions on consecutive mornings can compound the damage. The first cold snap may weaken blossoms, and the second can finish them off, especially for crops like apples, peaches, and berries that are already in sensitive growth stages,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
Things will start to warm up after Tuesday, forecasters said. Temperatures will climb back to above average Wednesday through Friday.
"Highs for most of the area are forecast to be in the mid/upper 60s Wednesday, then into the 70s for Thursday and Friday," National Weather Service forecasters said.
Then, it will cool down again over the weekend.
There are increasing chances of rain as well.
