Woman Found Dead In Ocean Off Asbury Park Beach

Asbury Park Police received a call of a possible drowning Saturday evening on the beach at 800 Ocean Avenue.

ASBURY PARK, NJ — A woman was found unresponsive in the Atlantic Ocean Saturday evening in Asbury Park, and police are investigating her death as a possible drowning.

Asbury Park Police were called to the 800 block of Ocean Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Saturday for a call of a possible drowning, said Asbury Park Police Director John Hayes.

A woman had been found floating, unresponsive, in the water, the Asbury Park Press reports.

Asbury Park Police and firefighters pulled the woman from the water. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation and we will not be able to comment further at this time," Hayes said Monday afternoon.
