He's expected to take over districtwide duties September 14, with a transition plan aimed at keeping Brackman's opening and the new school year running smoothly.
   

• 2 drown in separate Morris County lake incidents (nj1015.com) — Recent water tragedies statewide include several deadly crashes in Barnegat Bay, where two children, a young man with Barnegat ties, and another boater were killed in separate incidents this summer. • Massive dead whale washes into Jersey Shore surf and begins breaking apart (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A large dead whale has drifted into the surf at Barnegat Light, where its decomposed carcass is starting to break apart as officials plan how to remove and examine it. Marine Mammal Stranding Center staff and multiple agencies are coordinating the response and warning residents and visitors not to touch any remains, instead reporting sightings to the center's 24-hour hotline.
