BERKELEY, NJ — The Berkeley Township Council swore in a new councilmember Monday night.

Christopher Burris is the newest at-large councilman. He was appointed unanimously by the council to fill a vacancy left by Thomas Grosse, who stepped down from the dais in September.

He will serve out the remainder of Grosse's unexpired term, which is through December 2027.

The other councilmembers also welcomed Burris aboard.

Burris noted that he had four generations of family in Berkeley.

"I will give you guys 110 percent," Burris said. "I'll work hard to approachable, accessible, accountable at all times."

He also joked that the audience was "in luck" as he didn't have much to say.

"I promise next time you'll probably be yanking with me a cane to get me off the mic," Burris said.
