• Knowlton Assured No Freight Trains on Cutoff (ridgeviewecho.com) — Blairstown residents living along the towering Lackawanna Cutoff can expect that any future rail use will be passenger-only, with Pennsylvania officials saying they neither discuss nor anticipate freight trains on the line. Knowlton’s push for clarity brought written assurances that hazardous freight should continue using existing Allentown routes, even as Amtrak’s Scranton–New York proposal advances slowly toward possible service after 2031.
