18,000-Pound Boat Breaks Free On NJ Highway, Smashes Car Head-On: Video
A trailer and boat detached from a pickup truck while trying to exit the circle and crossed into oncoming traffic, said police.
RARITAN, NJ — A boat crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a car near the Somerville Circle in Raritan on Monday, police said.
At around 11:45 a.m., Raritan patrol officers went to the area of the Somerville Traffic Circle for an accident involving a boat attached to a trailer and a blue BMW sedan.
A preliminary investigation found that a Ram pickup truck towing an 18,000-pound boat lost control while trying to exit the traffic circle onto Route 206 South, said Raritan Police Lt. Everett Holt.

The trailer and boat detached from the Ram and continued into the northbound lanes of Route 206 where they hit a blue BMW sedan, said Holt.
The Ram driver was evaluated for minor injuries and the accident caused extensive delays in the area.

The accident remains under investigation.
