Drunk Driver Crashes Into Burger King In Bridgewater, Police Say

Only the drive-thru of the restaurant is open on Monday after a whopper of a crash.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a Burger King in Bridgewater early Sunday morning, said police.

On Sunday at around 1:24 a.m., Bridgewater Police officers responded to Burger King at 44 Finderne Ave., for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the building.

Officers saw a silver Toyota Tacoma that had left the roadway, hit the outside wall of the restaurant, and came to rest inside the lobby area, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Steve Zeichner.

No injuries were reported.

The driver and only person in the vehicle was identified as Daniel Vega, 25, of Manville.

Officers said they saw signs of impairment and conducted standardized field sobriety tests.

Based on testing, Vega was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Vega was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, unsafe lane change/failure to maintain lane, and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and released.

Vega was released to a responsible adult and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Municipal Court on June 24.
