Car lovers, soccer fans and families alike will come together as Silver Diner and the <a href="https://ogscc.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Original Garden State Corvette Club</a> hosts the first-ever America 250 Freedom Cup Car Fest on Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at Silver Diner on Route 38 in Cherry Hill.
As the New Jersey and Philadelphia region gears up for one of the world’s biggest soccer events and America’s 250th anniversary, this new car show celebration will bring the community together for a day filled with classic cars, music, food and family fun.
The event will feature DJ entertainment and an impressive lineup of vehicles of all makes, models and years, including both foreign and domestic cars. Guests can also enjoy breakfast and diner favorites at Silver Diner throughout the event.
Car registration will take place from 8 to 10 a.m., with a $25 vehicle entry fee payable on the day of the show. No pre-registration is required. Judging begins promptly at 10 a.m. The first 100 registered vehicles will receive a free event t-shirt. Awards will begin at noon, with trophies presented to the top 40 vehicles.
The event is free for spectators, and the event proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

An Evening with Hot Tuna - Acoustic - with special guest Ross Garren
Hot Tuna, an iconic American blues rock band, has been delivering a profound musical experience to audiences pushing six decades. With founding members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady at its helm, the band has constantly evolved, continually injecting fresh energy and improvisation into their sound.
The story of Hot Tuna begins with Jefferson Airplane, a pioneering psychedelic rock band of the 1960s. Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady were at the heart of Jefferson Airplane, contributing to its distinctive sound and monumental success. As members of the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy recipients, Kaukonen and Casady helped shape the musical landscape of the era, leaving an indelible mark on the history of rock and roll.
In the late 1960s, amidst the turbulence and creativity of the counterculture movement, Kaukonen and Casady sought a new musical outlet. This desire led to the formation of Hot Tuna, a band that allowed them to explore their deep-rooted passion for blues and American roots music. Hot Tuna’s early performances were characterized by a raw, acoustic sound that highlighted Kaukonen’s intricate guitar work and Casady’s innovative bass lines. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1970, captured the essence of these performances and set the stage for the band’s enduring legacy.
Hot Tuna has consistently evolved throughout their career, experimenting with different styles and sounds while staying true to their blues roots. The band’s discography, spanning over two dozen records, showcases their versatility and creativity. From the acoustic blues of their early years to the electric rock-infused albums of the 1970s and beyond, Hot Tuna has continually pushed the boundaries of their music.
Casady, long considered one of rock’s first bass heroes, has been a driving force behind this evolution. His creativity is evidenced by his continually evolving bass solos in his extensive library of songs and live performances. At almost 85 years of age, Kaukonen remains at the apex of his skills, captivating audiences with his husky voice and proficient blues licks that rival the iconic leads of many blues rock masters. Together, they are well-seasoned musicians and musical treasures.
Hot Tuna’s live performances are legendary and known for their spontaneity and energy. The band’s ability to improvise and create unique musical moments on stage has garnered them a dedicated following. Each concert is a testament to their musicianship and deep connection with the audience.
To some fans, Hot Tuna reminds them of wild and happy times. To others, the name will forever be linked to their discovery of the power and depth of American Blues music. To newer fans, Hot Tuna is a band on the cutting edge of music. This multifaceted appeal has allowed Hot Tuna to remain relevant and influential across generations.
Hot Tuna’s contributions to music have not gone unnoticed. In October of 2022, Jefferson Airplane was given its star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band’s surviving members, Casady, Kaukonen, and Grace Slick attended the ceremony. Fittingly, the star is located right in front of the Musician’s Institute, cementing their place in the annals of rock history.
Hot Tuna’s journey is a testament to the enduring power of passion, creativity, and innovation. From their roots in Jefferson Airplane to their status as blues-rock legends, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady have left an indelible mark on the music world. Hot Tuna remains one of American music’s most innovative Rock and Roll bands, continuing to inspire and captivate audiences with their timeless sound and unwavering dedication to their craft.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of recording and collaborating with some of the music industry’s most renowned artists, composers, and performers. My work can be heard on albums by Beyoncé, Bon Iver, Kesha, Ben Folds, Noah Cyrus, Rita Coolidge, and Pomplamoose. Additionally, I’ve contributed to film scores by composers such as Robbie Robertson, Hans Zimmer, Ludwig Göransson, Marco Beltrami, Buck Sanders, Bear McCreary, Lyle Workman, Mark Mancina, and Alf Clausen.
​Describing my music can be a challenge, but I think Andre LaFosse summed it up best: “Ross Garren’s sound world is a meeting of vintage Americana, retro-futurism, classic songcraft, and whimsical surrealism.” In short, I wear my eclectic tastes on my sleeve, blending my favorite genres, eras, and sounds—often in stark juxtaposition.

Honmoon Princesses: A Tribute to Demon Hunters featuring DJ Golden Hour @ Scottish Rite Auditorium

GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Chris Botti has been one of the most popular instrumentalists in the world for nearly three decades; he’s collaborated with some of the biggest superstars on the planet, including Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Steven Tyler, Andrea Bocelli, Herbie Hancock, Yo-Yo Ma, and others; he’s topped the jazz charts with numerous albums, earned multiple Gold and Platinum records, performed with symphony orchestras and on prestigious stages from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House. In short, Chris Botti really needs no introduction. Yet with his Blue Note Records debut, he’s offering one anyway. Vol.1 is in many ways a fresh start for the trumpeter. Having successfully crossed over from jazz renown to pop stardom, Botti’s first album in more than a decade finds him crossing back, with a small group project focused on acoustic jazz and classic standards. “I turned 60 in 2022, at a time that seemed like a restart for so many things in the world,” Botti says. “I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing, the playing of my band, and these jazz classics that we always love playing on stage.” While Botti could boast of the major names with whom he’s shared stages, this project allows him to share his enthusiasm for the jazz greats past and present that excite him – his conversation is peppered with references to everyone from Miles Davis to Keith Jarrett to Pat Metheny to Brad Mehldau. He points to landmark albums like Davis’ Kind of Blue, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, or Metheny’s duo outing with Charlie Haden, Beyond the Missouri Sky as models for the kind of “lifestyle” music he set out to make – music that is exquisite on its own but can also set the scene for a coffee shop or hotel lounge, instantly generating a sophisticated mood. Of course, Botti couldn’t have found a more ideal home for this artistic rebirth. Blue Note has been a standard-bearer of jazz throughout its storied history, and the trumpeter found a receptive partner in label president Don Was. “Anyone that’s lucky enough to say they’re on Blue Note Records should be pinching themselves,” Botti says. “It’s a fantastic honor. I had great runs on Verve and Columbia, so it’s amazing to now arrive on the most famous traditional jazz record label.” Not that Vol. 1 is a complete about-face – longtime fans will immediately recognize Botti’s glowing tone and regal melodicism, as well as his flair for investing the narrative of a song with high drama and vibrant emotion. “There’s a cinematic quality that I like to hear in music, and that I’ve found that audiences really love,” he says. “The essence of that remains on this album. It’s paramount to me that there is incredible beauty and elegance to all of the performances and the way they’re recorded.” Botti has assembled a stellar group of collaborators to achieve that blend of beauty and elegance for the album. The album was produced by the legendary David Foster, whose staggering list of credits includes three Beatles, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and countless others. Above all, it’s Botti’s clarion, heart wrenching trumpet that seizes he spotlight throughout Vol. 1. From the way he sings the yearning melody of “Danny Boy” to the keening, airy melancholy of his Harmon mute playing on Miles Davis’ “Blue In Green”; the hushed tenderness he brings to Coldplay’s “Fix You” or his shimmering flurries on “Someday My Prince Will Come;” Botti leaves no doubt of his mastery or his ability to speak directly from the soul of the instrument. The title of Vol. 1 implies a new beginning, but perhaps even more promising is the fact that it also hints at a Vol. 2 – and beyond. “I’m so looking forward to that possibility,” Botti concludes.
