Officers also charged two people with shoplifting at area stores, with all cases now moving forward through the court system.

Devices Down: East Windsor Regional School District Officially Adopts 'Bell-to-Bell' Student Cellphone Ban (tapinto.net) — Students in the East Windsor Regional School District will face a new bell-to-bell ban on personal electronic devices this school year, covering phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and more during classes, lunch, and passing time. The Board of Education adopted the policy to comply with state law, while allowing exceptions for IEPs, health needs, emergencies, and after-school use, with another board meeting set for September 14.
   

3. ICE Detains Man Facing Charges In Fatal East Windsor Hit-&-Run (patch.com) — An East Windsor man accused in a fatal Aug. 9 hit-and-run on Route 33, which killed a 37-year-old township resident and critically injured a Spotswood man, is now in ICE custody facing possible removal. Local police say he was previously charged with multiple offenses related to leaving the scene and driving with a suspended license, highlighting an ongoing case affecting East Windsor residents.
   

4. Pair of East Windsor Residents Charged with DUI, Other Motor Vehicle Offenses (tapinto.net) — East Windsor police recently charged two township residents in separate traffic incidents, including a DUI arrest on Hickory Corner Road that also involved reckless driving and an open container violation. Another resident was stopped on Route 130 North and cited for driving while suspended and improper display, with an outstanding Hightstown warrant noted by officers.
