Head Spa Rooted In Ayurvedic Tradition Opens On Metuchen’s Main Street

The mayor helped cut the ribbon at the new downtown business during its grand opening.

METUCHEN, NJ — There’s a new place in downtown Metuchen to slow down, and it focuses on your head.

Champi, a head spa at 467 Main St., held its grand opening Oct. 23. Mayor Jonathan Busch was there to help cut the ribbon.

“If you’ve never visited a head spa, think of it as a chance to slow down and unwind, with the focus on your head and scalp,” Busch wrote in a social media post after the event.

The spa draws on the centuries-old Ayurvedic tradition of head massage. Champi is the Hindi word for head massage.

Busch said the spa offers “a relaxing experience for anyone looking to take a break from a busy day and enjoy a little time for themselves.”

Owners Supriya Malhotra and Vaida Domeikyte met through their sons, who are friends from school. That friendship eventually led the two moms to go into business together.

“Congratulations, Supriya and Vaida, and thank you for choosing Metuchen,” Busch wrote.

Champi is located at 467 Main St., Metuchen.
