DECA — an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management — held its 2026 New Jersey State Career Development Conference (SCDC) on March 4 and 5 in Atlantic City. This year, Englewood Public Schools proudly sent a remarkable cohort of student competitors whose dedication, professionalism, and ambition were on full display.

A total of 46 Academy of Englewood High School students qualified for the state-level competition through their own merit and academic achievement. Over two days in Atlantic City, students participated in rigorous written exams, role-plays, and prepared presentations designed to test their mastery of real-world business scenarios and their ability to think critically under pressure.

At the close of the conference, 11 Englewood students earned promotion to the international stage, securing invitations to compete among the top young businessmen and women this April in Atlanta, GA in late April. The ICDC hosts over 20,000 students, attendees, and judges.

Academy of Englewood High School emphasizes developing socially conscientious scholars, and DECA’s success is a testament to the collaborative work between teachers and students every day. Classrooms at DMHS prioritize critical reading, effective communication, and polished presentation skills — all essential competencies for competition at the regional, state, and international levels.

Englewood’s DECA chapter is now seeking community partners and supporters to help ensure every qualifying student can attend the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) this April. Contributions will directly support student registration fees, lodging, travel, and professional attire.

For information on how to support these students or to get involved as a sponsor, please contact:

Reach the front office at (201) 862-6037.

The chapter’s fundraising goal is $12,000 by April 23 to provide full access and opportunity for all 11 qualifying students.
