Man Sentenced After Sex Assault Of Baby, Distributing Images Of Child Abuse In South Jersey

He sent pictures to others over the internet.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 40-year-old Sewell man was sentenced on Friday after he sexually assaulted a six-month-old baby and distributed images of abuse, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

Nicholas Bounasis was sentenced to 30 years in jail without parole after he accepted an agreement and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and one count of second-degree distribution of child sexual abuse material.

He was arrested on June 27, 2024 after a search warrant was conducted on his home by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

Detectives found Bounasis's devices that had images of child sexual abuse and exploitation.

He also sent those pictures to others on the internet.

Bounasis will be on parole supervision for life and must register under Megan's Law after he is released from jail.

A final sex offense restraining order will also be submitted to protect the child.
