3. Hackensack firefighters respond to numerous calls during Sunday flooding (news12.com) — Hackensack residents saw intense flash flooding Sunday that kept city firefighters and public works crews busy for about five hours, assisting stranded motorists and flooded homes around Main Street, Johnson Avenue, and Kinderkamack Road. With the department's high-water vehicle out of service, South Hackensack helped with rescues and barricades, and firefighters even saved a trapped family of raccoons once waters began to recede.

4. Religious billboards in NJ aim to save the souls of commuters (northjersey.com) — Drivers near Hackensack on Route 4 are being greeted by a new Rosh Hashanah billboard from Chabad of Hackensack, showing smiling children and wishing everyone a Shana Tova. The sign is part of a broader wave of religious and cultural "billboard evangelism" across New Jersey, but this one focuses on boosting Jewish pride and joy amid rising negativity and hate.
