HOBOKEN, NJ — A three-woman school board slate was in the lead in the Hoboken Board of Education election Tuesday night as results continue to be counted.

Since voters could mail their ballots until 8 p.m., the final results won't be known for days. But Patch has provided updates below.

Four people ran for the school board this year. Three three-year seats are open on the nine-member board.

Here are the preliminary vote totals, as of late Tuesday night:

• Sharon Angley: 5,350
• Sheilah Dallara: 5,442
• Adrian Oxman: 5,378
• Patricia Waiters: 2,104
• Write-In: 322

The Hoboken school district has a high school, middle school, and three elementary schools.

The three charter schools in town are considered separate districts, although the Hoboken board may influence some decisions regarding the charter schools.

In 2021, the district proposed a $241 million plan to build a new high school and renovate other buildings, but it was voted down in a referendum. The district is now holding community engagement meetings to plan for the future.
