Woman Dies, Driver Hospitalized In Hudson County Car Crash: Police

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A female passenger has died and the driver was hospitalized after a car crash in Harrison on Sunday, police said.

Damaris Michell Tipan Gonzalez, 20, of Kearny was killed in the crash, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on I-280, said State Trooper Christopher Postorino.

The driver, 24-year-old Dandy J. Quituizaca-Angama of Newark, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, Postorino said.

A preliminary investigation determined that Quituizaca-Angama lost control of the car and struck a traffic sign and trees, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation and not further details are available, Postorino said Monday afternoon.
