The local chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby celebrated Earth Day this year at several events - including at the Holmdel Earth Day Festival on April 26. The Holmdel event was one of more than 500 outreach events by Citizens' Climate Lobby chapters across the nation in honor of Earth Day. Chapter members, including Dean von Essen of Holmdel, talked to local residents about climate advocacy and collected constituent letters to go to our Members of Congress. Dean joined Citizens' Climate Lobby in 2025 and, along with other local advocates, works to build more support for climate action and to show Congressmen Frank Pallone and Herb Conaway, and Senators Cory Booker and Senator Andy Kim, that the community is eager for Congress to pass effective climate legislation. Dean observes: "Everyone is motivated by different reasons, but we find that pretty much everybody cares about this issue in some way. We want our Members of Congress to know that climate action and clean energy really matter to our community." Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that empowers everyday people to work together across political differences, building the political will to advance effective climate solutions in Congress.
