Pedestrian Killed In North Jersey Crash, Cops Say
Bystanders were attempting life-saving measures on the victim when first responders arrived, officials said.
SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man is dead after being hit by a car on a busy Sussex County highway this week.
On Tuesday, around 8:30 p.m., Sparta police were called to Route 15 North near the 9-mile marker on reports that someone had been hit by a car.
Police found bystanders attempting life-saving measures on a 63-year-old victim.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
Investigators believe the victim was standing outside of his disabled car on the shoulder of Route 15 north when a passing commercial vehicle, in the right lane, struck him.

Route 15 northbound lanes were closed for hours as the situation unfolded.
The Sparta Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash, and no further information is available at this time.
