Man Slashed On Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Train

NJ Transit officials arrested a man for assault over the weekend.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly slashed another man on a light rail train in Jersey City, officials said.

At approximately 12:50 a.m., New Jersey Transit Police received a call about a fight on a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train stopped at Liberty State Park, a Transit spokesman told Patch.

Police determined that a physical altercation had taken place between two adult men.

One man was slashed in the forehead, but the injuries were not life-threatening, and the victim refused medical attention, a spokesman said.

The other man, Kheiredin Benounane, 38, was charged with assault and with possession of a weapon, the spokesperson said. NJ Transit police are still investigating to determine the type of weapon.
