A writer from Louisiana embarks on a quest to a part of India where no American has ever gone. There she looks for her her grandfather's descendants, the land he claimed to own and the truth behind the stories she grew up with. We witness how investigating family history isn't just about validating a family tree—it's about understanding the lengths to which our ancestors went to reinvent themselves, and how those survival stories shape our present identity.

The Bengali is particularly relevant for audiences interested in multiculturalism and interfaith history. It challenges the notion of "fixed" identities, arguing instead that we are all products of mixed heritage and shared global migrations.

Join us for a reception with the film's Director Kavery Kaul at 7 pm. The film will begin at 7:30 pm.

Be inspired to share your story, your way. Bring your friends!
