Hidden Cemeteries Reveal Historic Graves

Event Details

Colts Neck Baseball Fields

COLTS NECK On Saturday November 7, 2026 enthusiastic supporters will visit two ancient family cemeteries to dedicate the graves of several Revolution War heroes. Hidden for years, the cemeteries in Colts Neck were recently cleared to reveal the gravesites of Revolutionary War heroes from the Logan, Bennet, Smock, Polhemus & Wyckoff families. The cemeteries had been covered with vines and fallen trees for years.

The groups and organizations working together to reclaim the cemeteries include: Colts Neck Township DPW, Colts Neck Historical Preservation Committee, Middletown Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and New Jersey Historical Commission, a Division of the Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Monmouth County Historical Commission.

People will gather at the Colts Neck Laird Baseball Fields at 10 am, Saturday, November 7 to walk to the cemeteries.
