• At Marlboro it's running back by committee (northjersey.com) — Marlboro High’s football team is banking on a deep, versatile group of senior running backs to power a 2026 turnaround after last year’s late-season slide. Coach Jason Degato highlights multiple backs sharing carries, with a schedule that includes home dates against Colts Neck, Neptune, Raritan, Matawan, and Middletown South starting August 27.
   

• Monmouth County acquires historic Freehold train station (app.com) — Monmouth County has bought Freehold’s historic 1900 train station to create a visitor center for the Henry Hudson Trail, which runs through Marlboro. The project aims to add restrooms, exhibits, and community space while eventually closing the trail gap between Freehold, Marlboro, and Matawan, improving access for local walkers and cyclists.
