• Matawan-Aberdeen School Board Race Virtual Forum (patch.com) — Matawan residents will soon have a chance to hear directly from candidates running for the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional Board of Education during a virtual League of Women Voters forum on September 23. Voters can register on Zoom, submit questions in advance, and learn more about both Matawan and Aberdeen candidates before casting their school board ballots.
   

• YMCA of the Jersey Shore Invites Community to 'Passport to Wellness' Open House on Sept. 25 (patch.com) — A free "Passport to Wellness" open house is coming to the YMCA Counseling & Social Services office at 166 Main Street in Matawan on Friday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can meet local mental health professionals, explore services for youth, adults, and families, enjoy light refreshments, and enter a door prize drawing, with RSVPs encouraged but walk-ins welcome.
   

• OIB Ortho/Joe Leone's Week 1 Shore Conference Football Team of the Week: Matawan (shoresportsinsider.com) — Matawan's high school football team has been named the Week 1 OIB Ortho/Joe Leone's Shore Conference Football Team of the Week after an emotional 18-12 win over Raritan. Strong performances on offense and defense, plus the memory of legendary coach Barry Rizzo, powered the Huskies to the honor and a celebratory pasta party gift card.
