County Will Spray For Mosquitoes Thursday In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Monmouth County will spray for mosquitoes very early Thursday morning in Middletown.

The area that will be sprayed will be areas south of Rt. 36, east of 11^th Street, Galloping Circle and streets east of Galloping Circle; and areas south of Edgemoor Road, east of East Road and north of Sunrise Road.

Spraying will be done between the hours of 3:00-6:00 a.m. The county will apply Duet, an insecticide, using Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayers mounted in the bed of a pick-up truck.

Mosquitoes collected in this area tested positive for West Nile virus, said Monmouth County.

“Mid-July through September is the peak time for West Nile virus activity,” said Commissioner Sue Kiley, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services.

“The Office of Mosquito Control will conduct adult mosquito control operations in areas of Middletown and adjacent areas of Naval Weapons Station Earle on Aug. 20,” said Commissioner Director Tom Arnone.

“Monmouth County can provide inspectors to visit properties and identify sources of standing water that may support mosquito breeding. To schedule an inspection, please call the Office of Mosquito Control at 732-542-3630.”
