NJ Theater Company Will Hold 9/11 Tribute Show On 25th Anniversary Of Attacks
"Tributes" will run two nights in Essex County. Admission is free, with donations accepted for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A theater company in Essex County is opening its doors for a two-night tribute to the victims of the September 11th attacks on their 25th anniversary.
Apricot Sky Productions will present “Tributes” – an evening of six short plays and three monologues – at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Grove Street Theater in Montclair.
Many of the artists involved with the project watched the tragedy unfold from their own front steps, including Livingston playwright Eric Alter, the author of “Tributes.”

Nearly 750 New Jersey residents were killed in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. However, not every piece in “Tributes” is set on that tragic day.
“I didn't want to hit the audience over the head,” Alter said. “The goal is to balance the weight with some levity.”

The lineup ranges from “The Eleventh of September” – in which a man is pulled in two directions until he must make a defining choice – to “And Now I Read to You,” about a woman facing memory loss and the former student who returns to remind her what she meant to him.
“I will never forget the loss of humanity we experienced firsthand,” Alter said, recalling the mourning that took place 25 years ago.
However, the nation wasn’t left “helpless,” he added.
“One thing we can do is help the survivors and the families,” Alter pointed out.
In this vein, admission is free for the upcoming two-night run at the Grove Street Theater. A $20 donation is suggested at the door – with all proceeds going to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.
To keep costs down, credit and debit cards will not be accepted. Making reservations by phone at (973) 509-2350 is suggested. The show is intended for ages over 12. Learn more here.
