These Montclair Nonprofits Scored $850K In Latest State Budget

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Four Montclair-based nonprofits recently scored a combined $850,000 in funding under the latest state budget.

New Jersey lawmakers voted to approve Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s first state budget last month. Those casting “yes” votes included Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill, who represents Montclair and other towns in the 27^th district.

According to Collazos-Gill, multiple organizations with Montclair roots will receive funding. They include:

• IMANI — $500,000 to support academic enrichment programs and help close achievement gaps for students in the Montclair Public Schools

• Jazz House Kids — $200,000 to expand music education, mentoring, and performance opportunities for young people

• Montclair Film — $100,000 to support year-round film education, cultural programming, and the nationally recognized Montclair Film Festival

• Out Montclair — $50,000 to support LGBTQ+ programming, including the annual Montclair Pride celebration and year-round community engagement efforts

“These organizations represent the incredible work happening every day across our district,” Collazos-Gill said. “They educate and inspire young people, provide critical support for families, celebrate creativity and culture, and create spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging.”
