Flames Destroy Morristown Food Truck's Kitchen Space, Owners Say

While the trucks were spared, the business's kitchen and storage space were decimated by the fire.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown food truck company is trying to get back on its feet after a fire destroyed its commercial kitchen space.

Colonia Grill, a food truck that has been serving cultural fusion grub to Morristown residents and visitors for more than 10 years, suffered a tremendous loss after a fire this weekend.

The business's commercial kitchen, where the equipment, ingredients, and supplies are kept, caught fire. Owners say "everything except our trucks" was either severely damaged or destroyed.

The owners said in a statement that the fire seems to have started outside the kitchen space and jumped to the structure. While the kitchen did not explode, some equipment damage is far beyond repair.

The company is working on bouncing back, getting donated and rented kitchen equipment so they can continue to operate. Additionally, a new kitchen space has been acquired by Colonia Grill.

The truck opened on Tuesday, offering a limited menu of just Steak & Fries and Grilled Chicken & Fries.

"If you’d like to support us, the best thing you can do is come eat with us once we’re back on our feet. That’s more than enough, and it’s always been the reason we’ve been able to keep going," a social media post read. "God bless every single one of you. We’re working through the hundreds of messages you’ve sent us, one by one, and we can’t thank you enough for your patience, prayers, and encouragement... We’re back."

The cause of the fire has not yet been announced, but Wharton fire crews are investigating.
