Local businesses and organizations often play an important role in helping communities address difficult challenges. Patch had a chance to learn more about Charles “Chaz” Mabra of Novara Recovery Center and the organization’s work surrounding addiction awareness, recovery education and treatment resources.

Patch: Tell us a bit about your business or organization:

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: Novara Recovery Center works to provide education and support for individuals and families navigating substance use and recovery-related challenges. Through informational resources and community-focused outreach, the organization helps raise awareness around changing trends in alcohol use, addiction treatment and mental health concerns affecting communities throughout New Jersey and Virginia.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: Our organization has focused on building community awareness and encouraging conversations around recovery and prevention while continuing to connect residents with helpful information and support options.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: I was motivated by the growing need for accessible education and support surrounding addiction and recovery. Many families are looking for trustworthy information and guidance, and I wanted to help create resources that make those conversations easier and more informed.

Patch: What's the most common piece of advice you give to customers?

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: Early awareness and open communication matter. Whether someone is concerned about themselves or a loved one, asking questions and seeking information sooner rather than later can make a meaningful difference.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: The most rewarding part is helping reduce stigma around recovery conversations and seeing people feel more empowered to seek support, education or treatment options when they need them.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Charles “Chaz” Mabra: We focus heavily on education, awareness and approachable communication. Our goal is to help communities better understand evolving substance use trends while encouraging informed decision-making and support for individuals and families. More information is available through Novara Recovery Center’s published community resources and outreach initiatives.
