Leaders for Life, Inc. and LIUNA Local 3 Announce Workforce Partnership to Connect Newark Residents to Apprenticeship Careers

Press Conference Scheduled for May 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM

Newark, NJ — May 5, 2026 — Leaders for Life, Inc. (LFL), a Newark-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing opportunities for underserved residents, is proud to announce a new workforce development partnership with LIUNA Local 3.This collaboration will create a direct pipeline to apprenticeship and career opportunities in the construction trades for Newark residents.

A press conference will be held on May 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM to formally launch the partnership and provide community members with access to pre-apprenticeship applications and career pathway information.

This partnership positions Leaders for Life, Inc. as a key community-based talent pipeline, preparing individuals for entry into LIUNA apprenticeship programs through targeted recruitment, work readiness training, and ongoing support.

“Workforce development is about access, preparation, and opportunity,” said Dr. Altarik White, CEO of Leaders for Life, Inc. “This partnership ensures that Newark residents are not only aware of these opportunities, but fully prepared to step into them and succeed."

Through this collaboration:

  • Leaders for Life will recruit and prepare candidates from Newark
  • LIUNA Local 3 will provide access to apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways in the trades
  • Both organizations will work together to expand equitable access to family-sustaining careers

Applications for apprenticeship opportunities will be distributed onsite at the event.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the local workforce, supporting economic mobility, and creating sustainable career pathways for residents historically underrepresented in the trades.
