Woman Attacked While Walking Home From Newark Bus Stop; Police Search For Suspect
VIDEO: The suspect repeatedly punched her in the face and body, police said, asking for the public's help identifying him.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a woman as she was walking home from a bus stop, authorities say.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the assault took place Sept. 18 on the 200-block of Leslie Street.
The victim had gotten off work and was walking home from a bus stop at approximately 1:30 a.m. when she saw a man watching and following her. As she reached her apartment, the man approached her from behind. When she turned around, he repeatedly punched her in the face and body, telling her to be quiet, authorities said.

The woman fought back and screamed, causing the suspect to flee, authorities said.
Police said the man was wearing a black tank top and blue shorts. Authorities released video footage of the incident, which can be seen here.
