• Newark Council Bars Landlords From Shifting Broker Fees Onto Tenants (communitynews.org) — Newark renters will no longer have to pay real estate broker fees, after the Municipal Council unanimously passed an ordinance requiring landlords to cover those costs. The new law, part of Mayor Ras Baraka's affordability agenda, also bans backdoor fee pass-throughs, mandates clear disclosure of all tenant charges, and sets fines up to $1,250 per violation.
   

• Taylor ignites Newark Central football over Nutley for 3rd straight win (nj.com subscription) — Newark Central's football team has surged to a third straight win, beating Nutley 21–7 behind two long touchdown passes from quarterback Zahyir Taylor. Strong special teams and a swarming defense, led by Yasin Diggs and Ahmad Walton's blocked-punt return, helped the Newark squad overcome an early deficit and move to 3–2 on the season.
   

• The Borngiorno's fiction-doc 'Amore nel Sannio', Maimonides Medical Center's life-saving partnership with WBGO, and the best from Toronto and San Sebastian Film Festivals (wbgo.org) — Newark filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno are spotlighted in a WBGO Journal episode discussing their new fiction-documentary "Amore nel Sannio," which is set to premiere on PBS. The hour-long show also highlights a life-saving blood donation partnership with Maimonides Medical Center and offers festival reports from Toronto and San Sebastian for local film lovers.
