Rutgers Head Basketball Coach Steve Pikiell Announces He Has Cancer (patch.com) — New Brunswick readers are learning that longtime Rutgers men's basketball coach Steve Pikiell has been diagnosed with cancer and will step back from coaching this fall and winter while undergoing treatment. Assistant coach Brandin Knight will serve as interim head coach, while Pikiell, treated by RWJBarnabas Health and Memorial Sloan Kettering, plans to stay involved with the team as much as possible.

Mental Health Clinician III, Per Diem (rutgers.edu) — A new per diem Mental Health Clinician III role is open at Rutgers' Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in downtown New Brunswick, supporting opioid use disorder research and training. Licensed master's-level clinicians will provide interventions, conduct interviews, distribute naloxone, and travel mainly across Central and South Jersey, with work based on-site and connected to RWJ University Hospital partnerships.

New Brunswick Arts Venue to Host Candlelit Classical Fundraiser on October 15 (communitynews.org) — New Brunswick's State Theatre New Jersey is hosting a candlelit Classical Season Celebration fundraiser on Thursday, October 15, featuring violinist Christina Bouey and pianist Dr. Yoon Lee in its Studio space on Livingston Avenue.
