• Borough Announces Road Paving Schedule in New Providence (tapinto.net) — Several New Providence streets, including Brook Hollow Lane, Columbus Avenue, and Richland Drive, are scheduled for paving between August 27 and 31, and cars must be off the roadway by 6:30 a.m. on work days. Residents are asked to put trash and recycling out the night before, watch for possible weather-related schedule changes, and follow Borough updates for any last-minute adjustments.

• Branch by Branch, New Providence's 200-Year-Old "Sentinel Tree" Comes Down (tapinto.net) — A beloved white oak known as New Providence's "Sentinel Tree" is being carefully dismantled outside New Providence Presbyterian Church after inspectors found dangerous internal rot. Crews are removing the 200-year-old landmark in stages along Passaic Street, while the New Providence Historical Society hopes to use tree-ring analysis on the trunk to finally confirm its true age and preserve its story.
