• Five northwest New Jersey school districts awarded tutoring grants (wrnjradio.com) — Newton’s school district will receive $80,000 in state funding to expand high-impact tutoring in English and math for the 2026–27 school year. The grant, part of a $7.48 million statewide initiative, will support small-group sessions several times a week, aligned with classroom lessons and closely tracking student progress.

• Sussex County Library receives historic Dennis Library desk and family artifacts (townshipjournal.com subscription) — A historic 1852 desk and family artifacts from Rev. Myron Barrett, an early leader in Newton’s library and church life, have been donated to the Sussex County Library’s Dennis Branch. The items highlight Barrett’s work with the Newton Library Association, First Presbyterian Church, and Newton Collegiate Institute, enriching local history collections.
