Now he has city post (northjersey.com) — Paterson resident Jeyss Abreu, a key organizer who helped Mayor Andre Sayegh court Dominican Republican voters, has been appointed to an unpaid seat on the city’s housing authority. Councilman Luis Velez sponsored the appointment, which drew praise from some colleagues and a lone dissenting vote over Abreu’s lack of direct public-housing experience, highlighting ongoing political alliances at City Hall.
   

2. Paterson official says halting school closure plan will cause 'chaos' (northjersey.com) — Paterson’s schools superintendent is asking the state education commissioner to overturn a last-minute order halting plans to close four elementary choice schools, warning the reversal is causing “districtwide chaos.” The disputed plan would repurpose Alexander Hamilton, Norman S. Weir, School 1, and Young Men’s Leadership for newcomers, special needs, and evaluation programs, while eliminating elementary choice options that many Paterson families rely on for stronger academics and safety.
   

3. Pharmacist-to-Be Awarded Outstanding Adult Learner Award (wilkes.edu) — A former Paterson resident, Cindy Rosario, has earned a regional Outstanding Adult Learner Award as she works toward becoming a pharmacist, balancing school, work, and family. Rosario, who moved from Paterson to Pennsylvania for Wilkes University, credits her Paterson roots, family support, and mentors for helping her push through years of sacrifice to pursue her dream.
