Roads Closed, Cooling Center Open In Point Pleasant After Storm
Almost 30 percent of Point Pleasant was without electric service on Friday morning, according to JCP&L.
POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Nearly a third of Point Pleasant remained without electricity and several streets are closed as cleanup is underway Saturday in the wake of Friday's severe storms, Point Pleasant police said.
The borough opened Town Hall at 2233 Bridge Ave. as a cooling center until 5 p.m. for those in need, officials said.
Herbertsville Road is closed from Route 88 to Maxson Avenue for emergency utility work, the police department said.

Multiple trees and power lines were brought down in the storm that packed wind gusts up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
More than 2,800 homes and businesses out of 9,930 in the borough were without electric service, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

"Utility crews are working on the problem," Point Pleasant police said. "There is NO eta. Call 1-888-544-4877 for updates."
Police urged people to drive with caution around town because of hazards from storm debris.
"If you have an emergency, call the police department. Drive safely!!" police said.
