NJ Man Who Shot Himself Dead Was Wanted In Death Of Missing Woman, Reports Say
A man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot in Bergen County on Thursday was about to be arrested in a missing woman's death, reports say.
LYNDHURST, NJ — A man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Lyndhurst on Thursday was about to be arrested in the death of a missing woman, reports say.
Brendan Trivisonno, 38, of Lyndhurst, was to be charged with murder, said a report on NJ.com on Friday. The killing took place in Elizabeth on March 10, 2025, NJ.com wrote, citing a warrant from Union County.
Last year, Trivisonno was questioned in the death of his girlfriend, Janaina Freire Goncalves of Elizabeth, who disappeared on March 10, reports said at the time.

Around 5: 30 a.m. on Thursday, members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lyndhurst Police Department tried to arrest a man at his home on Lake Avenue, but the man barricaded himself inside, said Jeff Angermeyer, the chief of detectives for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
The Bergen County Regional SWAT Team responded and tried to negotiate with the man, Angermeyer said.

The suspect, who was alone in the house, then shot himself, Angermeyer said.
The SWAT Team entered the home and found the man dead, Angermeyer said.
The man's name was being withheld until next of kin were notified, he said. No further details were available Thursday.
Residents of several streets in Lyndhurst were told to stay in their basements and shelter in place Thursday morning, and the opening of an area elementary school was delayed due to the police activity.
"Please avoid the area of Summit Avenue and Lake Avenue due to police activity," Lyndhurst's Office of Emergency Management said in a message around 7 a.m. "All residents on Lake Avenue between Orient Way and Summit Avenue are to shelter in place in their basements."
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office was notified about the shooting, but designated the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to lead the investigation, Angermeyer said. The investigation is continuing, he said.
The Union City Prosecutor's Office deferred all questions to Bergen County.
