Fanny Wood Day Canceled In Fanwood After Nor’easter Forecast

FANWOOD, NJ — Fanny Wood Day did not go ahead as planned Sunday after the Fanny Wood Day Committee canceled the street fair over the nor’easter forecast.

The committee announced the cancellation Friday, saying the forecast called for winds of more than 40 mph and heavy rain. The announcement cited the safety of vendors, participants, volunteers and visitors in its decision.

“With the severe weather conditions being forecast, we believe cancelling this year’s event is the safest and most responsible decision,” the committee said.

As Patch previously reported, the festival had been scheduled to bring food, music, contests and professional wrestling to Martine and South avenues. The borough’s original event announcement also listed a stuffed animal adoption for children.

The Fanny Wood Day Committee thanked the vendors, sponsors, organizations, volunteers, entertainers and community members who helped prepare for this year’s event. The committee said it appreciated their support and understanding.

The committee also said Fanny Wood Day will return in 2027, but did not announce a date for next year’s fair.
