Players Still Needed For March 29 Secaucus Basketball Tournament At Rec Center

Seven teams have signed up so far to play. Don't let North Bergen and Union City dominate our hometown tournament!

SECAUCUS, NJ — They are still looking for players for the four-on-four half court basketball tournament held at the Secaucus Rec Center March 29.

  • Charity Half-Court 4-on-4 Basketball Tournament
  • Sunday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Held at the Secaucus Recreation Center on Koelle Blvd.

Seven teams have signed up so far to play. The town of Secaucus wants to add two more teams.

They are seeking basketball players with team experience. Last year Union City fielded two teams and took home the trophy. North Bergen anticipates sending two teams.

There are two teams already from Secaucus, but organizer Don Evanson (publisher of the Secaucus Spectator) wants to add more players. If you want to play or join a team, contact Evanson 201-902 9742 or donevanson@aol.com.

The March 29 tournament is a fundraiser for Secaucus Meals on Wheels and the Secaucus Food Pantry, which regularly serve over 200 families by assistance in fulfilling their nutritional needs.

Team registration is $100. At the event bring $100 in cash or a check made out to Secaucus Spectator. Last year, they presented the Secaucus Food Pantry with a check of $1,500.

"This year we want to give more, with your help," said Evanson.
