South Brunswick To Honor 5 Veterans With Fall Street Sign Dedications

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick Township will honor five local veterans this fall through its Veteran Street Sign Program, part of the township's Veterans Recognition Street Naming Initiative, according to a township press release.

The program allows South Brunswick residents who served as wartime veterans to be honored with a secondary sign added to an existing municipal street, township officials said. Eligible veterans include those honorably discharged from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard who served during a period of armed conflict, received armed forces expeditionary or other campaign service medals during an emergency condition, or died in the line of duty.

"Each of these veterans has a story of service and sacrifice that deserves to be remembered," Mayor Charlie Carley said in the release. "These street dedications give our community an opportunity to honor their contributions and make sure their names and service remain a visible part of South Brunswick for generations to come."

Four dedication ceremonies will be held this fall, each beginning at 10 a.m. on a Saturday, according to the township. The schedule is:

• Sept. 19: Ronald John Kornacivich (Army Airborne, Vietnam War), at the intersection of Ridge Road and Marc Drive, closest to Georges Road.

• Sept. 26: Charles Arthur Wiggs (Navy, Korean War), at the intersection of Roberts Street and Williams Road.

• Oct. 10: Herbert Tainow (Navy, World War II) and Shirley Tainow (Navy WAVES, World War II), at the intersection of Old Beekman Road and Joye Lane.

• Oct. 24: John Morgan Harding Jr. (Army, Korean War), at the intersection of Kendall Road and Leahy Road.
